PSG Put Six Past Villarreal to Stay Perfect in Champions League
Fabián Ruiz scored twice as the reigning champions raced to a 4-0 lead inside 17 minutes and cruised to a 6-0 rout, extending their unbeaten run to 10 straight games and opening a three-point gap at the top of the table.
Paris Saint-Germain delivered another Champions League masterclass on Tuesday, thrashing Villarreal 6-0 at the Estadio de la Cerámica to stay perfect through four matches of the league phase and move three points clear at the top of the standings.
The defending champions stunned the home crowd by racing to a 4-0 lead inside the first 17 minutes. João Neves opened the scoring in the 9th minute, lashing home from close range after a corner. Désiré Doué doubled the lead three minutes later, steering a right-footed shot into the bottom corner after Maghnes Akliouche split Villarreal's defense. Within 60 seconds, midfielder Senny Mayulu had made it 3-0 with a rising shot into the top corner, and Akliouche teed up Fabián Ruiz for his first of the night to complete the early blitz.
Ruiz struck again shortly after halftime to make it 5-0, and substitute David Boly rounded out the scoring in the 78th minute. Villarreal, who had taken points off tougher opposition earlier in the campaign, had no answer at any stage.
Perfect through four
The win extends PSG's winning streak to 10 games across all competitions, a remarkable turnaround from a shaky start to their Ligue 1 title defense that included a 2-1 home loss to Monaco. In the Champions League alone, Luis Enrique's side has now beaten Slovan Bratislava 6-1, Manchester City 4-2, Barcelona 4-2, and now Villarreal 6-0 — four wins from four, with a league-phase-best +15 goal difference, according to ESPN's official match recap.

The result also keeps PSG in pole position in the 36-team league phase table ahead of Barcelona and Aston Villa, both of whom sit on nine points after four games. With automatic knockout-round qualification going to the top eight, PSG look on course to secure their spot with matches to spare.
Villarreal, by contrast, slip to a 1-0-3 record in the competition and now face an uphill climb to reach the playoff spots as the league phase enters its second half. PSG will look to keep the run going when league-phase matchday five arrives later this month, with Luis Enrique's side showing no signs of slowing down after an underwhelming domestic start to the season.
