Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys Play the Emmy Campaign Game Together on Joint Variety Cover
The real-life couple and former "Americans" co-stars opened up about their careers, family life and dueling nominations.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are campaigning as a package deal this Emmy season. The couple, who met on "The Americans," share the cover of Variety's latest issue, with Rhys nominated for "Widow's Bay" and "The Beast in Me" and Russell nominated for "The Diplomat."
In the joint interview, Russell joked that she's "not that famous," saying she sometimes buys her own red-carpet gowns rather than borrowing them. The pair also played a Newlyweds-style game for the feature. Emmy voting opens Monday and runs through Aug. 26, making the timing of the cover story a deliberate play for attention during the crucial final stretch of the campaign.
