Seven people were shot early Saturday morning outside a house party in Shreveport's Cherokee Park neighborhood, according to KTBS and KSLA. Shreveport police responded to the 1100 block of Crestmoor Drive at roughly 3:55 a.m. and found multiple victims suffering gunshot wounds, including a woman with a life-threatening injury to her torso.

Investigators say the violence broke out as guests were leaving the gathering, when an argument between two men — allegedly tied to an earlier physical altercation inside the party — escalated on the street outside. Multiple shots were then fired into the departing crowd. Beyond the woman in critical condition, six other victims turned up at area hospitals and a Shreveport Police substation seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, according to the reports.

No suspect has been identified, and as of the latest reporting no one is in custody. Detectives with the department's Violent Crimes Unit are asking anyone who was at the party, witnessed the shooting, or has cellphone video of the incident to come forward.

That was the reaction from Angela Tucker, a neighbor on Crestmoor Drive, who spoke to KTBS after officers cleared the scene. The shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents to hit the Shreveport area this year, adding to a wave of gun violence that has strained the city's Violent Crimes Unit in recent months.
