Tyreek Hill's Cryptic 'Cold Weather' Post Sets Off an NFL Guessing Game Eight Months After His Release

Tyreek Hill hasn't played since tearing his ACL, hasn't signed since Miami released him in February, and hasn't confirmed a destination — but a cryptic social media post has NFL insiders guessing anyway.

Tyreek Hill has not played a football game since tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee last season, has not signed with a team since the Miami Dolphins released him in February, and has not said a word publicly about where he's headed next. That hasn't stopped the rest of the NFL from guessing.

The speculation kicked into a new gear after Hill posted on social media in late September that he was "ready for some cold weather" — four words that set off a wave of guessing about which cold-weather contender might be lining up a reunion. CBS Sports has floated the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots as plausible landing spots, while other outlets keep circling back to the one that would write itself: a return to Kansas City, the team that traded Hill away in 2022 and still hasn't replaced him with a true No. 1 receiver opposite Travis Kelce.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has confirmed his client wants to sign with a contender — but not yet. Rosenhaus has told reporters he doesn't expect Hill to put pen to paper until later in the season, with an eye on an October return to the field once he's fully cleared from the injury that ended his 2025 season early.

FOUR WORDS, ZERO CONFIRMATION, AND A LEAGUE FULL OF TEAMS PRETENDING THEY AREN'T WATCHING HIS INSTAGRAM.

What Miami gave up to move on

The Dolphins' release of Hill in February, part of a broader roster purge that also included linebacker Bradley Chubb and offensive lineman James Daniels, cleared $22.8 million in salary-cap space for Miami. Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowler who turned 32 this year, thanked the organization and its fans in a social media post at the time and vowed his career "will continue."

Whether that continuation starts in Buffalo, Baltimore, Los Angeles, New England, San Francisco or back in Kansas City remains, for now, a guessing game — one Hill himself seems in no hurry to end.
