Michael Brennan closed with a nerveless 3-under 68 on Sunday to win the Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club, beating Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell by a single shot and denying defending champion Xander Schauffele a repeat title on his own turf.

Brennan finished at 16-under par, pulling away from a crowded leaderboard that had him tied for the 54-hole lead with Bridgeman and Zach Bauchou. He made four birdies against one bogey in the final round, hitting 55 of 60 fairways for the week off a driver he was swinging better than 320 yards on average. The win was his third PGA Tour title and second of 2026, following his breakthrough at the Bank of Utah Championship and a victory at the Wyndham Championship in August. It paid $1.44 million and 500 FedExCup points from the event's $8 million purse, the third of eight stops on the FedExCup Fall schedule.

Schauffele, the two-time major champion chasing back-to-back wins in Japan, shot his own 67 but pushed his tee shot on the 18th into trouble and carded a double bogey that erased any chance of forcing a playoff. He finished tied for fourth at 13-under, three shots back, in a field that also included Jordan Spieth (11-under), hometown favorite Hideki Matsuyama playing in front of Japanese galleries, 2024 champion Collin Morikawa and 46-year-old Adam Scott, who stood one shot off the lead entering Sunday while chasing his first PGA Tour win in more than six years.

A Steady Hand Down the Stretch

The 24-year-old, who turned professional only in 2024, said the difference on Sunday was simply staying out of his own head on a course remodeled by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.

"I WAS MORE CALM TODAY THAN I HAVE BEEN IN WEEKS PAST," Brennan said, adding that he tried to treat the final round "like any other."

Bridgeman, who had won the Procore Championship in September and was seeking back-to-back titles, missed a birdie look on 17 that would have tied him for the lead, while Mitchell's closing round left him alone in second alongside Bridgeman. Schauffele, for his part, didn't hide his frustration with how it slipped away: "I definitely played good enough golf to win this tournament," he said afterward, according to wire reports from Yokohama.

The Baycurrent Classic was the PGA Tour's only Asia stop of the fall, and Brennan's win locks in his exempt status well into 2027 while adding momentum to a season that has already produced two trophies. A full breakdown of the week, including how Scott's bid for a 15th career title unraveled, is detailed in Plugged In Golf's tournament recap. The Tour now takes a week off before resuming the Fall swing at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, Oct. 22-25.
