'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Swings Past $920 Million, Closing In on the All-Time Summer Box Office Record
Tom Holland's web-slinger notched a sixth straight weekend at No. 1 over the holiday, a streak no film has matched since 'Avatar: The Way of Water.'

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is refusing to leave the top of the box office. The Sony and Marvel release won its sixth consecutive weekend at No. 1, pulling in roughly $18 million over the traditional three-day frame and an estimated $23.3 million across the full four-day Labor Day holiday, pushing its domestic total to around $923 million, according to Variety's box office report.
Six straight weekends at No. 1 is a feat no film has managed since "Avatar: The Way of Water" ran off seven in a row in 2022, and it puts "Brand New Day" within reach of Marvel's biggest domestic hauls of all time as it heads into its second month in theaters.
A Record-Setting Summer
The film's dominance has also carried the broader summer box office toward a milestone. The domestic summer total sits at an estimated $4.74 billion, according to Deadline's tracking of the holiday frame, just shy of the $4.75 billion unadjusted record set in 2013 — a mark that final Labor Day numbers could still push past once studios report official totals.
NO FILM HAS STRUNG TOGETHER SIX WEEKENDS AT NO. 1 SINCE 'AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER'
Universal's "The Odyssey" held steady in its eighth weekend, adding a four-day total of $15.2 million across 2,312 theaters for a running domestic cume near $587 million, per TheWrap's summer wrap-up — a reminder that even in a summer defined by one superhero's dominance, several other releases quietly built durable audiences of their own. With awards season and the fall slate now looming, Sony and Marvel will be watching to see how much further "Brand New Day" can stretch its run before new competition arrives.
