Rapper Lucki Bloodied in ComplexCon Parking-Lot Brawl as Playboi Carti Watches From His Car
Chicago rapper Lucki was slashed in the face and neck outside ComplexCon's 10th-anniversary show in L.A., with LAPD now investigating the melee as attempted murder while Lucki's long-simmering feud with Playboi Carti draws fresh scrutiny.
Rapper Lucki was left bloodied with a laceration to his face and neck after a chaotic brawl broke out in the ComplexCon parking lot in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, with footage showing Playboi Carti watching the aftermath from inside his own vehicle nearby.
According to TMZ, the fight erupted around 4:40 p.m. while Lucki was surrounded by fans taking photos outside the convention center. An unknown assailant struck him in the side of the face, and witnesses say at least one other person was seen being stabbed before LAPD located two additional injured victims. In total, four people were hurt — three in stable condition, with one transporting themselves to a hospital.
LAPD is treating the incident as an attempted murder investigation. No arrests have been made, and police have not said how many suspects were involved or whether any of them have been identified.
Video circulating online shows Lucki being escorted into a car with visible blood on his neck as the scene around him erupted into shouting and shoving.
The altercation reportedly involved members of Lucki's entourage clashing with people associated with Carti, according to AllHipHop, which cited a correspondent on scene. It remains unconfirmed whether Carti personally took part in or directed any part of the confrontation; multiple outlets note he was seen only observing from his car window, away from the direct fighting.
The two rappers have had tension dating back to a social-media back-and-forth, most recently reignited in mid-September when Carti reportedly took offense to a Lucki post he interpreted as a diss. Lucki denied any intended shot at the time, and the beef had appeared to cool before Saturday's incident.
The violence marred the opening day of ComplexCon's 10th-anniversary edition at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where Carti is serving as an artistic director alongside designer Hiroshi Fujiwara and was slated to headline Sunday's Opium-focused concert at Crypto.com Arena.
Neither Lucki nor Playboi Carti had released an official statement addressing the brawl as of Sunday morning. Lucki posted to his Instagram in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, though he did not directly address his condition or the incident in that post.
LAPD's investigation remains open, and it's unclear whether ComplexCon organizers will adjust security or programming for the event's second day. Fans and fellow artists have flooded social media with messages of support for Lucki as more details of the melee continue to surface.
