Days of Our Lives Legend Robert Kelker-Kelly Dead at 62
The actor who played Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives and the Cassadine family's Stavros on General Hospital has died in Missouri, with his cause of death still undetermined.
Robert Kelker-Kelly, the actor best known to soap fans as Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives and Stavros Cassadine on General Hospital, has died at 62, multiple outlets reported Monday.
Kelker-Kelly died Saturday, October 3, in Missouri, according to TMZ, which first broke the news. A cause of death has not yet been determined, and the outlet reported that a medical examiner in the state is handling the case.
The actor, born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1964, got his start in daytime drama on Another World in 1987, playing Sam Fowler before stepping into the role that made him a household name to soap audiences: Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, a part previously originated by Peter Reckell. His performance opposite Kristian Alfonso's Hope Brady earned him the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1994, part of a run that also included the publication's "Hottest Soap Couple" honor alongside co-star Lisa Rinna, according to Soap Opera Digest's obituary.
A Complicated Legacy
Kelker-Kelly's DAYS exit in 1995 has drawn renewed attention in recent months after Rinna's memoir claimed their working relationship behind the scenes was far rockier than their onscreen chemistry suggested. Per TMZ's reporting, Rinna alleged verbal abuse and manipulation on set, and claimed NBC arranged security for her and Alfonso around the time of his departure. Kelker-Kelly never publicly responded to those claims.
IT WAS A GOOD RUN AND I HAD A GOOD TIME WHILE IT LASTED.
That's how Kelker-Kelly summed up his DAYS tenure when he exited the role in 1995, per Soap Opera Digest. He went on to reprise the Another World universe as Shane Roberts and Bobby Reno from 1996 to 1998, then crossed to General Hospital, where he played the Cassadine family's menacing patriarch-in-waiting Stavros across two separate runs, 2001 to 2003 and again in 2013 to 2014.
Off camera, Kelker-Kelly largely stepped away from Hollywood by the late 1990s to retrain as a professional pilot, a second career he maintained for decades. He was married to former co-star Miriam Parrish from 1997 to 2011.
What's Next
Neither outlet has reported funeral or memorial arrangements, and representatives for Kelker-Kelly's family had not issued a statement as of Monday. Soap Opera Digest listed him in its In Memoriam roll alongside other daytime alumni, and Days of Our Lives and General Hospital fan communities online have begun circulating tributes citing his two signature roles. This story will be updated as more details on his cause of death and services become available.
