Jets' $46M Man Down: Breece Hall's Groin Scare Has Gang Green Sweating
Star running back Breece Hall will miss two to three weeks with a groin strain suffered in a non-contact mishap at Jets camp — but coach Aaron Glenn insists New York's $45.75 million workhorse will be full-go for the Sept. 13 season opener.

The New York Jets got a scare — and, by Tuesday, a sigh of relief — after star running back Breece Hall left Monday's training camp practice early with a right groin strain that will sideline him for the rest of the preseason.
Hall went down during a red-zone team period, hauling in a pass from quarterback Geno Smith and stepping out of bounds untouched before pulling up and heading to the sideline. There was no contact involved, which initially fueled worry given Hall's injury history — he tore his ACL as a rookie in 2022.
Minor injury, real relief
Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters he believed the injury was minor, and the club confirmed Tuesday that Hall is expected to be sidelined two to three weeks — a window that lines up almost perfectly with New York's Week 1 date against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 13.
WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO BE CAUTIONARY.
The stakes are significant for a Jets offense built around Hall. The 25-year-old signed a three-year extension worth up to $45.75 million in May and is coming off his first career 1,000-yard rushing season — 1,065 yards on 243 carries with four touchdowns, plus 36 catches for 350 yards and another score through the air. He's also one of fantasy football's most-owned backs heading into draft season, a fact that sent his name trending within minutes of the injury news.
In his absence, backup Braelon Allen — who scored twice in the same red-zone period after Hall exited — will take the lead rushing role for New York's remaining preseason action, starting with Friday's game against the Steelers. Kene Nwangwu and a pair of undrafted rookies, Chip Trayanum and Sam Scott, round out the depth chart, while the team's No. 3 back, Isaiah Davis, is himself out with a separate minor knee issue.
League-wide, Hall's injury was one of several camp scares reported Monday, alongside Titans quarterback Mitch Trubisky being evaluated for a biceps issue — a reminder of how fragile the final stretch of camp can be for contenders across the league.
For now, the Jets are treating this as a dodge rather than a disaster. Hall will sit out the preseason but is not expected to open the regular season on the injury list, and New York's medical staff will continue to monitor his recovery through imaging and workouts over the next two to three weeks.
