SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants pulled off one of the more improbable comebacks of their season Wednesday night, scoring six runs with two outs in the eighth inning to erase a five-run deficit and beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-6, completing a three-game sweep.

St. Louis led 6-1 through six innings, powered by a three-run homer from Leo Bernal, according to FOX 2 St. Louis. San Francisco looked all but finished until the bottom of the eighth, when the Giants' young core took over.

Four Straight Two-Out Hits

With two outs and the bases loaded, rookie Bryce Eldridge delivered a two-run single, and Jonah Cox followed with an RBI hit to cut the deficit to 6-4, according to Yahoo Sports. Jung Hoo Lee then ripped a two-run double off the right-field wall to tie the game at 6-6, before Shay Whitcomb capped the rally with a go-ahead RBI double off the center-field fence, sending Oracle Park into a frenzy.

Rookie reliever Matt Wilkinson threw scoreless seventh and eighth innings to pick up his first career win, and Trent Harris closed out the ninth for his first career save, according to The Sports Leader.
