Angel Reese put up a dominant 30 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 79-65 win over the Golden State Valkyries on Monday night, evening the WNBA Finals at one game apiece heading back to Atlanta, according to ESPN's game recap.

The loss at Chase Center was the Valkyries' first-ever home playoff defeat, snapping a perfect run at home that had carried Golden State — the WNBA's newest franchise — to its first-ever Finals appearance just days earlier. Reese dominated inside all night, pairing her scoring with relentless work on the glass as Atlanta pulled away behind a dominant third quarter.

How It Happened

Golden State had taken Game 1 on its own floor, but the Dream flipped the script this time, controlling the boards and limiting the Valkyries' usually efficient half-court offense. CBS Sports credited Atlanta's defensive adjustments and Reese's physicality for turning around a series that looked, after Game 1, like it might belong to Golden State.

The result means a best-of-seven Finals that had opened with a signature moment for the league's newest franchise now resets at even terms, with home-court advantage shifting to Atlanta for the next two games.

What's Next

Games 3 and 4 move to Atlanta later this week, putting the Dream in position to take control of the series on their own floor. Golden State, which reached the Finals in its first trip to the postseason as a franchise, will need to find an answer for Reese's interior presence away from the comfort of Chase Center.
