More than 300 children aged between 3 and 12 years old in 41 schools in Rouen were victims of mass poisoning, according to the Education Ministry. Children seem to have received lunch (offered to all kindergardens and primary schools in the country) which was prepared by a particular private company, which is also the supplier of the schools.
Shortly after the meal, 300 children felt nauseated, while 21 of them were transported to a hospital in the area where they were subjected to stomach washing. Nursing staff and doctors were also sent from the hospital and schools to see if any of the other children needed immediate hospitalization.
In a statement issued by the French Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education said that investigations are under way to identify the causes of mass poisoning while all the food portions have been pledged by the supplier.
