Big changes are being made by the Facebook team that will affect the interaction of users with itself as well as other users. In particular, Facebook in 2018 aims to make the platform more private and less commercial.
This will be done by focusing on the content produced by friends and family and not the viral posts. More specifically, the popular social network is planning to change its algorithms and the way they filter the news in our newsfeed so as to primarily show the hangouts of friends and family members and respectively degrade public posts from businesses and the media.
As the Associated Press says, the changes will take place over the next few weeks, after the harsh criticism that has accepted the popular social media platform for its advertising orientation.
However, despite the improvements made by Facebook creator Mark Zuckenberg, technology and social media experts say that if the upcoming changes are implemented, the popularity of news, videos and photos by companies and the media will be greatly reduced, and may reduce the spread of fake news and misinformation.
