Ghouta is divided into three control zones

Syrian army and rebels have been involved in tough fights early this morning on the decisive war front in eastern Ghouta, as the advancement of military government forces has divided the region into three control zones, according to the Syrian Human Rights Watch.

More than 1,100 civilians were killed in the fighting that erupted three weeks ago in eastern Ghouta, which was under the control of the guerrillas, near Damascus.

According to the observatory, there have been fierce warfare on several fronts, from artillery, continuous air raids, and attacks by Syrian army helicopters.
