Shailene Woodley Fuels the 'Big Little Lies' Season 3 Rumor Mill Again: 'It Is Happening'
The actress won't confirm a start date or script, but she's not denying it either — and a new Liane Moriarty novel reportedly inspiring the plot has fans convinced Monterey is calling the cast back.
Shailene Woodley is once again teasing a return to Monterey, telling reporters this week that a third season of "Big Little Lies" is "supposedly...happening," even as HBO has yet to officially greenlight the project.
Woodley's comments follow reporting that author Liane Moriarty's new novel, "Big Little Truths," will serve as inspiration for a potential third installment of the Emmy-winning drama, according to MovieWeb. Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are reportedly expected to reprise their roles if the season moves forward, though it remains unconfirmed whether Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz and Meryl Streep will return alongside them.
"You know, that it is happening," Woodley told E! News, saying she plans to keep "feeding" the rumor mill until there's official news, per E! News.
