Selma Blair Pleads Not Guilty to Assaulting Flight Crew, Blames Missed Medication
Arraigned after an alleged mid-flight attack on a Delta crew member and a nurse, the actress's attorney says missed doses of medication controlling severe neurological symptoms triggered the outburst.
Selma Blair was arraigned in New York on Oct. 12 over an alleged in-flight attack on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to JFK, pleading not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault involving a police officer and a nurse.
Accounts of the incident differ — some reports say Blair punched a flight attendant and bit a crew member, while others say the specifics remain unclear. She was released on bail, and a judge granted an order of protection for the nurse she allegedly assaulted, according to CBS Austin. The case has been adjourned until January 2027, and the actress separately faces a federal petty-offense charge.
Blair's attorney, Shawn Barnes, told the court her actions were not intentional, saying she had missed several doses of "a powerful medication that controls severe neurological symptoms." A representative said she experienced a medical emergency. Delta said it has "zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior."
