The nominees for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards dropped Thursday, with Madonna leading the pack at 11 nominations. Taylor Swift trails close behind with nine, while Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each picked up seven.

This year's show, airing Sunday, September 27 on CBS with a simulcast on MTV and Paramount+, also shakes up its categories — Best Rock is gone after more than three decades, while Best Dance returns for the first time since 2019.

Fan voting is now open across 13 categories at vote.mtv.com through September 25.
