HBO announced this week that "Girls" is returning for a five-episode limited series a decade after its 2017 finale, with creator and star Lena Dunham leading nearly all of the original cast back.

Dunham, now 40, will again play Hannah Horvath, with Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells also returning — this time as co-executive producers alongside her, according to AP reporting carried by KSAT. Judd Apatow returns as an executive producer. Production is set to begin in 2027.

Notably absent from the announcement: Adam Driver, who played Hannah's on-and-off boyfriend Adam Sackler. Dunham said the team would only revisit the show "if there was a specific story they were burning to tell." The revival is among the first new series greenlit at HBO since Warner Bros. Discovery's takeover by Paramount.
