Celine Dion kicked off Paris Fashion Week in dramatic fashion Monday, stepping onto the runway beneath the Eiffel Tower to close out L'Oreal Paris' annual show with a surprise live performance of her 2002 hit "I'm Alive."

The Canadian superstar, in a sleek black gown, emerged at the end of the show to rapturous applause, joined onstage by a lineup of L'Oreal ambassadors including Viola Davis, Simone Ashley, Aja Naomi King and Eva Longoria. It marked one of Dion's most high-profile public performances since she revealed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that forced her to cancel tour dates and step back from live performing.

A 26-Show Return

The runway cameo is also a preview of a much bigger comeback: Dion is set to headline a 26-show residency at the Paris La Defense Arena, with 16 concerts scheduled across September and October and 10 more planned for May 2027 — her first extended live engagement since her diagnosis sidelined her.

Monday's show, dedicated to women's spring-summer 2027 collections, opened Paris Fashion Week's nine-day run, which continues through October 6 and will feature shows from Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent and dozens of other houses. L'Oreal's show has become one of the calendar's signature democratizing events, staging its runway free outside the Eiffel Tower for tens of thousands of spectators rather than the industry's typically invite-only presentations.

Dion's team has not confirmed whether Monday's brief performance signals additional full-length sets during Fashion Week, but fans and industry press quickly flagged the appearance as a strong sign heading into her Paris concert dates, the first of which begins in the coming weeks. Dion has said publicly that she continues to manage her condition through ongoing treatment and physical therapy, and that performing again "means everything" to her after nearly three years away from the stage.
