AEW Star PAC's Cause of Death Confirmed: Bronchial Asthma, Medical Examiner Rules
Nearly three weeks after Benjamin Satterley — known in the ring as PAC — was found slumped in his car outside a Chicago-area restaurant, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled his death natural, closing the door on speculation about foul play.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has officially ruled that All Elite Wrestling star Benjamin Satterley — known to fans worldwide as PAC — died of natural causes, with bronchial asthma listed as the cause of death, TMZ confirmed this week.
Satterley, 40, was found unresponsive in a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot in Des Plaines, Illinois, in late September, roughly 24 hours after competing in his final match at AEW's All Out 2026 event against National Champion Andrade El Idolo. News of his death spread through the wrestling world that Sunday night, with early reports noting there were no indications of foul play or trauma, though the official cause remained pending autopsy at the time.
Three Weeks of Speculation Ends
The medical examiner's finding, first reported by WrestlingInc, puts to rest weeks of fan speculation about what caused the sudden death of a wrestler widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted performers of his generation. Larry Brown Sports, citing the same investigation, reported the medical examiner's office determined the manner of death was natural following a complete review.
CAUSE: BRONCHIAL ASTHMA. MANNER: NATURAL.
Satterley built his reputation over nearly two decades on the independent and international wrestling circuit before becoming a fixture of AEW, known for an aerial, high-risk style that made him a favorite among hardcore fans. Tributes poured in from wrestlers and promotions across the industry in the weeks following his death, many of them noting his influence on a generation of performers who grew up watching his matches.
AEW has not announced any additional tribute plans beyond condolences issued at the time of his death. Satterley's family has not issued a new public statement since the medical examiner's ruling was announced.
