DALLAS — AT&T reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $32.3 billion on Wednesday, up 5.3% from $30.7 billion a year earlier, as the telecom giant notched its best consolidated service-revenue growth in more than four years.

The company's official earnings release credited the gains to continued strength in its fiber and wireless businesses. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.65, beating the $0.60 Wall Street had expected, according to figures reported by AlphaStreet.

A Messy Headline Number

GAAP diluted earnings per share from continuing operations, however, dropped sharply to $0.13 from $1.29 a year earlier — a decline the company attributed to a non-cash impairment charge tied to its held-for-sale Mexico wireless business, along with employee separation costs. AT&T's own SEC filing lays out the charge in detail; investors and analysts have largely focused on the adjusted figures instead, since the impairment is a one-time accounting item rather than a reflection of underlying operations.

BEST CONSOLIDATED SERVICE REVENUE GROWTH IN MORE THAN FOUR YEARS

On the growth side, AT&T posted record internet net adds of 769,000 subscribers for the quarter, alongside postpaid phone net adds of 379,000. Advanced Connectivity service revenue, which covers fiber and 5G wireless, rose 6.1% to $23.9 billion.

On the strength of those numbers, AT&T raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings-per-share guidance to approximately $2.40, up from its prior range of $2.25 to $2.35.

The results land amid a broader earnings week for U.S. telecom and industrial names, with Texas Instruments among the companies reporting after Wednesday's close. AT&T shares have been closely watched this year as the company continues a years-long pivot toward fiber broadband and away from legacy copper and satellite TV businesses it has been shedding.
