The case of the alleged rape of a 9-year-old child by his classmates at school shocked a village in southern Spain, where the prosecutor’s office has launched a preliminary investigation.
“They are minors, the victim is 9-year-old the perpetrators are aged 12 and 13-year-old,” José Luis Acheu, the Mayor of Ciuyevar, a village with a population of 1500 in Andalusia, said today in the COPE radio network where the events were revealed.
The Office for the Protection of the Rights of Children in Andalusia has reported in a press release that it has begun investigating the “alleged rape of a 9-year-old child in a village school by four children”.
In addition, the prosecutor’s office, which is in charge of handling cases of minors, has also begun an investigation, asking for a report from the education authorities, a spokesman for the Andalusian prosecutor’s office told the French agency. At this stage, the Ministry of Public Order can not prosecute, as the alleged perpetrators are under the age of 14, the source said.
“The case became known by a medical report when the minor went to the hospital and the doctor activated the protocol, indicating there are indications of possible sexual abuse,” the spokesman told the French Agency.
Four of the 150 children of the school were expelled as a precautionary measure, Sonia Gaya, head of the Regional Education Department, said yesterday without going into details of their alleged involvement.
