Sunway TaihuLight and Tianhe-2 supercomputers remain the fastest in the world.
The US Titan fell fourth from an upgraded Swiss system, according to the latest version of the six-month T0P500 catalog of supercomputers released today.
According to this list, Sunway TaihuLight is described as “by far the most powerful calculator on the planet,” maintaining its lead since last June when it defeated Tianhe-2, a former champion of the past three consecutive years.
This means that a Chinese supercomputer was found nine times in a row at the top of the rankings, compiled by researchers from the United States and Germany.
In addition, Sunway TaihuLight, a 93 petaflops (CPU) unit, was built entirely with processors designed and built in China.
