The tiny Lernaean Hydra is a freshwater animal that has the ability to be recreated by a small piece of her body.
Scientists, however, have discovered that with a simple genetic modification they can create Lernaean Hydra “monster” with many, fully functional heads throughout their bodies, something very natural for a creature that was named after Lernaean Hydra of Greek mythology.
These strange creatures are not the product of some crazy scientists. They were created in the attempt to recognize the gene, which controls their ability to recreate cut members.
The findings of this research can help studies on human development as well as research on cancer.
