NASA’s stunning photograph of the Earth and the moon

The OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft on its … road to the Bennu asteroid took a stunning photo of the Earth and the moon. The photo released by NASA was taken 3 million miles (5 million kilometers) from the Earth. Almost 13 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

The OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft is expected to reach its destination in the Bennu asteroid in August 2018.

OSIRIS-Rex’s mission is to figure out where we came from as the asteroids are leftovers from the creation of our solar system.

What NASA says

“While the spacecraft could tell us some things about where we are and where we are heading, it can also remind us that we are now,” NASA said.

The color image was captured on September 22 by MapCam at Osiris-Rex. A few hours after the spacecraft completed maneuver to reach Bennu asteroid.

“Visible in this photo is the Pacific Ocean and several inland land. Including Australia, Baja California and the Southwest United States, “said a NASA spokesman.
