Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis died from lymphoma

Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis who was earlier diagnosed with lymphoma died.

The diagnosis has been confirmed, it is an early stage of lymphoma,” Saulius Skvernelis said earlier at the reporters in Vilnius. He revealed he underwent chemotherapy on Tuesday and would continue his treatment in September and October.

“Doctors hope there will be a complete recession, just like me,” the 49-year-old prime minister added.

The illness was diagnosed after routine examinations by Saulius Skvernelis following the May presidential election in which he was a candidate. The former national police chief and prime minister since December 2016 has been defeated in the presidential election by economist Gitanas Nausenta.
