The Old Vic Theater in London announced today that it has garnered 20 personal testimonies – allegations of “naughty behavior by American actor Kevin Spacey,” artistic director of the theater between 2004 and 2015.
At the end of an internal investigation conducted by a law firm at the request of Old Vic, “20 personal testimonies for Kevin Spessie’s inappropriate behavior” were collected for the period from 1995 to 2013, the theater announced.
As reported, the accusations concern the period from 1995 to 2013, most of which concern actions allegedly taking place before 2009. The research also concluded that the American actor’s “worldwide reputation” and “his position in Old Vic prevented people and especially young workers and young actors from feeling that they could talk or ask for help.”
“It is clearly unacceptable and Old Vic sincerely apologizes for not creating an environment or mentality where people would feel free to speak,” according to the announcement. Old Vic points out that these complaints were not made at the time, except one, and that “their accuracy could not be ascertained”.
The London theater was accused of hiding the inappropriate actions of the American actor. In the meantime, the British police announced in early November the start of an investigation into a sexual assault in London in 2008 by a man who, according to SkyNews, is Spacey.
