Kate Gosselin is firing back — again — at her son Collin's bombshell new memoir, doubling down on her denial of his abuse allegations just as the book's release draws fresh attention to one of reality TV's most bitter family rifts.

Collin's memoir, titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, accuses his mother of isolating him from his siblings and being physically and verbally abusive at times, according to Fox News. He also claims Kate pulled him out of school after he began reporting the alleged abuse to teachers.

Kate has consistently denied every allegation, pushing back directly in the comments section of her own TikTok videos. "[This page is] all about kindness, love, honesty and definitely not for made up accusation discussion!" she wrote, according to TV Insider. When one commenter suggested she sue her son for defamation, Gosselin replied that she couldn't, "because I am a public figure. The rules are different for ppl in the public eye."

I DID WHAT I DID TO PROTECT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY.

That's the line from a statement issued on Kate's behalf, in which her lawyer said she did not "intentionally harm" her child. In a separate statement to People, Kate said Collin has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years and was eventually placed in a residential facility after years of outpatient treatment proved insufficient.

The family split has played out publicly for years. Jon Gosselin, Kate's ex-husband and Collin's father, has said he received multiple letters from Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services detailing reports of abuse against Collin — reports that were ultimately deemed "unfounded" by the state.

The Gosselins became reality TV fixtures in the mid-2000s with the launch of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which followed the couple raising sextuplets alongside older twin daughters. The marriage's public collapse in 2009 and the family's subsequent fracturing have remained tabloid fodder for more than fifteen years, with Collin's memoir now reopening one of its rawest chapters just as the family had largely faded from the spotlight.

A release date for the memoir had not been widely confirmed as of Friday, though excerpts had already begun circulating in entertainment coverage. None of Kate and Collin's siblings had publicly weighed in on his claims.
