Cumberbatch: Sherlock Holmes Actor, “Thrilled” by Baby Boy

Sherlock star, Benedict Cumberbatch, is delighted by the arrival of his and wife, Sophie Hunter’s first baby.

The baby’s a boy, born several months after the couple wedded in February, and fans worldwide are already wishing the couple well on their new arrival.

There have been no official moves on a name as of yet, but it is expected that a name will be released in due course. Twitter is already ablaze with with commentary from fans and well-wishers across the world.

Benedict Cumberbatch is hugely popular for his unique on-screen presence and personality. He is best known internationally for his role as Sherlock Holmes in a British crime drama series on television that aired in 2010, and has won Cumberbatch fans from all corners of the globe. The third series, which was shown in 2014, became the most popular drama series in Britain and achieved significant audiences across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The actor has also starred in a number of well-acclaimed films, such as War Horse, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which were released in 2011. He played Khan, the most ruthless enemy the Enterprise had ever encountered, in the movie Star Trek Into Darkness.

In that same year, 2013, Cumberbatch also became involved in the Academy-award winner, 12 Years A Slave. He has several other critically-acclaimed films already under his belt, with The Imitation Game in 2014, garnering several prestigious awards for Cumberbatch.

The Queen of England herself is recognizing Cumberbatch’s accomplishment and national contribution to the field of drama. He will be receiving, on the Queen’s birthday, the honor of CBE, otherwise known as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in recognition of his achievements to date.
