17-year-old athlete with Down syndrome saved a 10-year-old girl from drowning in Italy

A reference point for Italian media and social media is the 17-year-old Valeri Katoya, a Down syndrome champion, who this time took home a “medal” much more important than he has ever won in his sporting activity at Amateur level.

According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the 17-year-old boy, in fact, became a champion of “generosity and courage”, but also a star in social media, because on Wednesday morning in Sampaudia, south coast of Lazio, he saved a 10-year-old ¬†from drowning.

For the work of Valenteri there have been “official” compliments, such as those of Sports Minister Luca Lucie and his “president” Luca Pancali, head of the Italian Paralympic Committee.
