Grandma poured drugs into her 14-month-old grandchild, and the child died 46-year-old Angela Denise Brewer was found guilty and sentenced for her 14-month-old grandchild’s murder by the North Carolina court on Thursday, December 14th.
The woman gave an opioid medicine to her grandson. In particular, it is a narcotic substance that the 46-year-old grandmother put in her grandchild’s cup and which resulted in the death of the infant. The tragic incident took place in Pickens, North Carolina, when on October 17, 2014, the police received a call for a child who stopped breathing.
Police officers arrived at the spot and found a 14-month-old infant to be unconscious and his grandmother trying to give him first aid, making him breathing artificially. Immediately the child was transferred to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
A lot of research has been carried out by the sheriff’s office and the coroner on the conditions under which the child lost his life. An autopsy was done and samples were sent for forensic and histological examinations. Coroner Kandy Kelley attributed the baby’s death to acute drug toxicity. Toxicological tests performed on the child showed that it had 2700 mL of this drug in his blood.
The 46-year-old Brewer was alone with her grandson when the sad incident occurred and nobody else had been involved with the little boy. That is why the woman was arrested as a suspect for the case according to Sheriff. She was accused of killing her grandson by putting a lethal dose of a drug into the child’s cup and sentenced to 20 years in jail for the shameful crime.
